How we build a composition

Every fragrance has a three-tier olfactory pyramid: top notes, felt first; heart notes, which define the character; and base notes, which linger. We start from the atmosphere you want to create and build the composition on that structure.

Choose a sample from Scent Company’s library of 3,000+ fragrances, or request a fully original composition. Both come out of the same Bergamo, Italy laboratory, with a CLP/REACH compliant safety data sheet (MSDS) and a hypoallergenic formula.

The process

  1. 1. Scent brief

    We discuss your brand, your space and your audience, to set the direction: fresh, woody, floral, amber.

  2. 2. Samples

    You get a shortlist to test directly in your space before choosing the final composition.

  3. 3. Production

    The chosen fragrance is produced in Italy and delivered in the format your diffusers need.

How long does custom fragrance development take?

Most projects move from scent brief to final samples within a few weeks, followed by production in Italy once you approve the composition.

Can I start from an existing fragrance in the collection?

Yes, you can choose a sample from the 3,000+ fragrance Scent Company library as your starting point, or commission something fully original.

Is a custom fragrance exclusive to my brand?

Yes, a bespoke composition is created and reserved for your brand rather than drawn from the shared collection.
